We tailor all treatments to create a massage to suit you and give you the best possible experience.
It is highly adaptable in both speed, techniques and pressure used. So, you can get a deep or gentle treatment with this style of massage, and it can be as targeted or as holistic as you like, you just need to communicate with your therapist what your preferences are.
In Swedish massage, you will lay on a massage table and are draped with a towel. It is a full-body massage treatment (arms, legs, back, neck, stomach, and head) except in areas that are contraindicated or where the client requests not to be touched. Depending on the client's preferences, a massage session may involve the use of several or all the following basic techniques: effleurage, petrissage, friction, vibration, and tapotement.
Massage is a treatment which uses relaxing massage techniques to ease muscle tension and restore balance. we use a combination of techniques from the wide range of treatments we have each trained in over the years. Swedish massage to create a relaxing, individual deep tissue massage style which can be tailored to meet your needs.
A full body massage traditionally include legs, feet, back, neck, shoulders, stomach, arms, hands, face, and scalp.
The term "holistic" means that a treatment looks at the whole of your body, understanding that all your systems work together in a finely tuned balancing act, once one part is out of balance, no matter how small, this will influence the rest of your body, sometimes causing stress and tension where you didn't even realise where you have it.
A full body massage is a great way to make sure that your body is working in a balanced way. Regular treatments will help in reducing stress and keeping you more balanced and able to deal with what life throws at you.
Longer treatments are ideal as you have more time to relax into the massage, we recommend 90 mins or longer for a full body treatment, 60 mins is great for a neck back and shoulders massage.

History
Massage is the use of hands or other means to manipulate muscles and areas of tension within the body. Evidence of body massage has been documented for over 5000 years, where the first records arose from ancient India, China, and Egypt.
The development of massage in India in 3000BC came from the belief that illnesses develop in people who are not living in harmony with their environment. To re-establish harmony, patients must regain balance in both the physical and emotional aspects of life. They believed that massage would balance both aspects and would aid any other treatment.
Hippocrates, who was widely regarded as the father of medicine was well known for his holistic approach to health care and wrote “The way to health is to have a scented bath and an oiled massage every day.” He believed that alongside a corrective diet, tonics, and fresh air a massage was commonly prescribed to treat a range of ailments. He found that rubbing towards the heart was more beneficial in the treatments of ailments. Although it would be much later on that the circulatory system would be understood his observations still stand today.
The likelihood is that massage will have developed well before the first records of it. It is a very natural reaction to rub aching muscles and techniques will have developed from this act of self-soothing.
Holistic therapy is an amalgamation of many different therapies which have all evolved over time considering ancient techniques and beliefs and using modern day understanding of physiology. However holistic therapies do not just consider the physical act of massage, but they also look at the concept of balance and harmony. Ensuring the patient is aware of the effects of the physical, social, economic, and environmental impacts on health and wellbeing, and working with the patient with a variety of techniques to ensure balance is returned.
