Treatment description and therapist thoughts
Reiki is a very passive treatment. You get comfortable on the massage table and the therapist will either place their hands lightly on you or hold their hands above your body. Healing energy will then flow from the therapist to you, and it heads to where it is needed. It is a very peaceful and relaxing therapy.

History
Reiki is an energy- based approach to healing that originated in ancient Tibetan Buddhist teachings. Reiki was “rediscovered” in the 1800s and consistent with other therapies based on East Asian medicine which assumes that all physical and emotional issues are a result in blocked energy flow (Qi). When it was rediscovered in Japan it was used as a type of alternative medicine, Reiki practitioners use various techniques through which ‘universal energy’ is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.
