Rachel is one of our main therapists at Manchester Body Balance, she was one of Kerry's students and has built a wide range of treatments and experience since then.

Why did you become a complementary therapist?
Many years ago I experienced an incredible massage treatment in the Maldives and was left feeling so refreshed and relaxed that it made me think I’d love this as my job! So I began to train in various therapies and eventually could leave my office job to focus fully on being a therapist. Combining a love of having treatments myself and then being able to do them for clients is absolutely brilliant. It’s really satisfying when I’ve helped a client and can see the difference after their treatment.

What do you enjoy most about the job?
I love the variety, each day is different and it’s definitely never boring. Meeting different clients, regular and new! I enjoy helping others too and never tire of that!

Why did you become a complementary therapist?
Massage was life changing for me. The most beautiful and important aspect of it – nurturing touch – saved my life. When I was just a month old the doctors couldn’t find out what was wrong with me as I could not gain weight. The loving affection I received from my mother day and night kept me alive and calm despite difficult times. Eventually they found the problem and 34 days later I had surgery. Usually, surgeries are a traumatic experience for adults, let alone babies, but the loving affection I received from my mother healed that trauma. As is normal, I moved on and forgot about the past. Later on in life. I realized what had saved my life and decided to learn about the art of touch, so I became a massage therapist!

What do you enjoy most about the job?
Giving massages is an incredibly fulfilling experience for both the client and therapist. Even on days when I’m feeling down, the act of providing massage always lifts my spirits. I’m captivated by the power of touch to promote healing and relation, and it often brings me into a state of mindfulness and tranquillity. Additionally, I’m grateful to be part of the team here at Manchester Body Balance. Everyone here is so nurturing and supportive – thanks Natalie, Rachel, May and Galina!
