DRY CUPPING & BODY GUA SHA

A lovely deep treatment to assist the body in removing any excess metabolic waste.

Treatment description and therapist thoughts

If you are after a deep treatment then this is the one for you, because it is deep, sometimes it can be painful.

The idea behind cupping is that the cups are placed on the area of the body to be works, and I apply a vacuum to pull the skin up into the cup, this encourages blood flow to the area, which removes stagnation and boost blood flow to help alleviate tension.

Depending on the level of stagnation it can leave circular whelps on the body which may take a few days to clear. These are not bruises. The darker the marks the more stagnation you have.

If you have a lot of stagnation please be aware that you may have marks which last for a few days, and you may also not feel well the day after your treatment. This is perfectly normal and should pass within a day or so, just make sure to drink plenty of water.

History

Cupping therapy has been around for a very long time, with some sources dating its use as far back as 3000BC. Cupping is a therapy that has been used all over the world, with evidence of it being used in China as far back as 1000BC, using pottery or bamboo cups. In Egypt  and Africa using cups made from horns. Even Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine used cupping therapy for treating internal disease and structural problems in 400BC.

It's a very powerful treatment and really does work to help your body restore balance and get your blood flowing again.
