Treatment description and therapist thoughts
A traditional massage done that can be tailored to suit your needs. Whether that is stress release, relief of muscle tension or you're simply after a little pampering. We tailor all treatments to create a massage to suit you and give you the best possible experience, using a unique blend of oils made specifically for you.
Aromatherapy massage combines the power of essential oils with massage therapy, benefitting both the mind and the body. Our therapist will discuss with you your specific needs, they will then create a specifically blended massage oil for you. This consists of a base oil and 2-4 different essential oils which are blended specifically for your needs. Then the massage will take place, it is often much gentler in pressure than normal massage, because the focus is on the oils doing what they’ve been chosen for.

We can do shorter times but to get the most benefit from a massage we recommend 60 mins minimum for a back, neck and shoulders, and 90 mins for a full body massage. This is a great therapy to add to other therapies, such as Indian Head massage and Reflexology.
History
The history of aromatherapy is over 3500BC, where there is evidence of aromatics used for religious purposes, perfumes and medicine. The Ancient Egyptians and Greeks used essential oils for ritual and healing purposes, as did the Chinese and Indians. The effects of perfumes on the human body and early forms of aromatherapy have been around for thousands of years.
The term “Aromatherapy” was invented by a French chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse in 1935 after a burn incident. Gattefosse claimed he treated if effectively with lavender essential oils. It was then introduced to Britain in the 1950’s by Marguerite Maury, she built on Gattefosse’s work into a more practical application, by combining the use of essential oils with massage.
